Today, I am sharing a little about what happened in our world this past week! We surprised our kids with a mini trip to the Wisconsin Dells to the Great Wolf Lodge for their Christmas present from us! They thought we were going on a quick trip to visit friends in Milwaukee. They had no idea that we were planning this surprise, we kept a good secret! Just before we arrived to the exit for the waterpark, I told my husband that I needed to use the rest room. My son whined that I should hurry because he wanted to get to Milwaukee. I turned on the light in the back seat & handed them each a present. They opened them and seemed excited for new swim suits. I asked them where they would use swimming suits and told them that we weren't really going to Milwaukee. They looked stunned and I told them we were going to the Great Wolf, they said- Really, seriously? They squealed with excitement as we pulled into the parking lot. I loved seeing their excitement for an experience gift, which is something they will always remember!

Enjoying... a little time away & some fun in the sun... I mean warm waterpark! ha   It felt so good to be in our swimming suits and enjoying the warm water. We love to swim and go on watersides, so this was a perfect mini getaway!

They loved their new swimsuits!

Exploring... all of the fun sites around the Great Wolf lodge.  The lodge was decorated so beautifully for the Christmas season. They had huge lit Christmas trees, snowmen, gingerbread houses & many more decorations that the kids loved exploring.

Celebrating... my 34th birthday! I turned 34 last week while we were in the Dells. We went out to dinner at the High Rock Cafe in downtown Wisconsin Dells. We had a delicious dinner and yummy drinks too!

Meeting... Santa & Mrs Claus! We heard that we could meet Santa while we were at the hotel, so we decided to stop by before the Clock Tower show in the lobby.

Listening... to the 8pm Clock Tower Show! Every evening at 8pm there is a Clock Tower show in the lobby of the hotel. Children fill the lobby to watch the characters come alive to sing and tell a story about the north woods.  After the Clock Tower show, a Great Wolf employee reads them a story & they have a meet & greet with one of the characters!  As you can see in the bottom right photo, my daughter was about all pictured out by that time of the evening! ha
We had a wonderful mini vacation with our kids despite battling colds & can't wait to go back again someday!

Happy Monday!! Have a wonderful week & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  3. Yay! I'm just glad to be back with another Currently post. Your past week has been amazing, I see. That was a great surprise you gave your kids. For a minute I was wondering if you were in NC. Here in SC where I am, it was 80 for Christmas. Many people went to the beach. I also loved the Clock Tower Show in the hotel. That is really neat and a good way for everyone to feel at home. Merry Christmas to you and I hope your New Year is a good one. See you soon! :) ~Lowanda

  4. Oh how fun, fun, fun! I really want to take the kids back to the Great Wolf Lodge. We have gone the last 2 years in the winter, but our last trip was a little stressful... Brian and Autumn were under the weather and a snow storm was coming in on our trip back to STL. SO, we might just go during Spring break this year and hopefully we will have better luck! lol! We go to the KC one, but I have always wanted to check out the Dells. Happy birthday!
