Although, I didn't follow the challenge directions very well this week... We are enjoying the flavors of summer by having a HELLO SUMMER BBQ, which was very exciting! This week's challenge was to Enjoy the flavor by trying something new & trying something your kids haven't experienced before. Well for us, it will be our first family BBQ experience of the summer.
Thursday evening, we decided to start summer off right with an obligatory barbeque with Hamburgers & all the toppings, corn on the cob & fresh homemade lemonade! First time making homemade lemonade this year -YUMMMM!!! I had to call my dad for our favorite family lemonade recipe and he gladly shared.
The kids made the lemonade themselves with just a little help from me! I cut the lemons in half, they did all the squeezing and stirring! It was delicious! I love seeing them get excited to help cook and make meals together as a family. We believe it is very important for all of us to do our part and learn together.
We added our favorite picnic table cloth to the patio table & we were set to have our fresh lemonade!
My son peeled all of the corn. He is such a big helper! The corn was delicious & we all had 2 helpings! Having fresh corn on the cob, definitely reminds me of summer!

ReplyDeleteI love love love grilled mushrooms on my burger!! Yum!! BBQs are the best. :) When we do corn though, I like to boil them in their husks, they peel so much easier after that!
ReplyDeleteThose burgers look delicious and I don't even like hamburgers!! lol So great that your kids got involved in helping to cook dinner. I am hoping that one day when I have kids they enjoy cooking as much as my husband and I do!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! This gives me lots of ideas! Thank you for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteThese photos have my mouth watering, especially since its almost dinner time! I love homemade lemonade, I have only made homemade pink lemonade... I had a recipe I tried in the kids Highlights magazines several years ago and it is so good, I make it at least once a year... Avocado and shrooms sound good!
