I've joined: The Juicing-Smoothie Club

I’ve Joined…

This week, I am testing out a NEW Juice/Smoothie each morning for a few days. I have been making smoothies a few days a week for my breakfast since Christmas, but I wanted to try out the Chia seeds & ground flax that I bought.  I also borrowed some Protein powder from a friend. I am not one to eat the same exact thing everyday. Well let's rephrase that, I do like to each certain things for breakfast, but I like to change it up every other day! ha

My parents gave my brother & I a Nutri Bullet for Christmas. They had bought one for themselves & realized that we would probably want one too! ha They were right!! My magic bullet broke a few years ago and I have been using a random blender that I found on Amazon.  The Nutri Bullet blends EVERYTHING!

I mainly use it for smoothies/juice at this point, but when I have time to try making other things in it, I will!

My little (well bigger than me) brother uses it to make homemade hummus. He couldn't give me a recipe, as he said he just throws stuff together! His girlfriend uses it to make her favorite smoothie that consists of: strawberries, bananas & milk. Simple, but she loves it! That is the main point... make something that you will love & it's healthy too!  My brother's favorite smoothie is made of leafy greens, banana, & berries.

My parents are BIG Smoothie makers. My dad makes them almost every morning. They use glass jars & a basket to store chia seeds, gojo berries, walnuts, almonds, ground flax seed, etc.

My mom's favorite recipe of her own: Faye’s Breakfast Pina Colada
1 small orange
½ banana
1 fresh pear
¾ tsp Maca Powder
¼ tsp Chia Seeds
8 Gogi Berries
½ tsp fresh ginger
2 drops coconut extract
4 chunks frozen pineapple
¾ cup pineapple juice

A new favorite she just made this morning!: Her exact words were YUM!
1 small orange
½ banana
small handful of spinach
12 red grapes
¼ tsp Chia Seeds
1 tsp Flax Seeds
1 tsp Maca Powder
6 Gogi Berries
½ C Apple Juice
½ carton Peach Yogurt
3 drops Coconut Extract

My Dad's favorite recipe: Dan’s Breakfast Pick-Me-Up
Handful of Spinach
½ banana
½ apple
1 orange
1/8 cup walnuts or almonds
¾ tsp Maca Powder
½ tsp Chia Seeds
1 Tbsp Oatmeal
¾ Cup Coconut Milk

Now, onto MY Favorites!

Sunday morning, I made a smoothie with 1/2 banana, few raspberries, 2 strawberries, 1/8 cup spinach, few baby carrots, 1/2 orange, 2 scoops protein powder, ice and 8oz water.  Very delicious!!

Monday morning, I made a smoothie with 1/8 cup spinach, a pinch of chia seeds, few raspberries, 2 strawberries, few blueberries, 3 blackberries, ice and 8 oz of water. --Not my favorite smoothie so far. I don't think that I am a big fan of the chia seeds.

Tuesday morning, I made a smoothie with 1/8 cup spinach, few raspberries, 3 strawberries, an orange, 2 scoops of protein powder, ice and 8oz of water.  --So far my Favorite smoothie this week!

  1. My husband is training for an ironman and has really gotten into smoothies lately. My kids also love them, and I love the idea of adding flax and chia!
