Quote of the Day// Enjoy Life! Don't wish away your days waiting for better ones! 

Cleaning// up around my workplace. They hosted an Earth Day event last week Friday for employees to participate in. I collected a full garbage bag of trash. Make every day Earth Day and clean up your mess outside! 

Exploring// the Devil's Punchbowl Nature Preserve. This beautiful, natural landmark is only 20 minutes from where we live, yet this was our first time there.  We enjoyed hiking the trail down to the amazing rock formations and waterfall.  I love exploring and finding new places in our own back yard. 

Enjoying// delicious wood fired pizza, drinks and a great view at one of our new favorite places: Lucette Brewing Company.  The kids enjoyed watching the action down in the bar and kitchen area, while my husband & I enjoyed visiting with each other. 

Hiking// on the Red Cedar trail just a few steps from our dinner at Lucette. We took a short hike down the trail with the kids to let out some energy and walk off our dinner!

Celebrating// my son's First Holy Communion on Sunday. It's so hard to believe that he is old enough to be completing this sacrament already. Our new priest did a wonderful job with the kids. We had a small party in our home after church with our families. We had a great day despite the rainy weather outside.

Currently Choosing Happy {vol.14}

Proud// of my little man! He did such a great job on his fly fishing project for the school expo. He learned a lot about his new fly rod and what equipment he would need to go fly fishing. He can't wait to go fly fishing with his dad soon!  His teacher video taped him explaining his project to the class and made sure to ask him questions about what he learned. 

He also won a Young Authors award for his folk tale, "How the dog learned to fetch". His teacher raved about how his writing has improved tremendously this year. I am one proud momma!

Swimming// at her first "big kid" swimming lessons! She is such a fish in the water, but we wanted her to start taking real lessons since she turned five this past February. She loved it and did a great job listening to her teachers. 

Sipping// with my ladies!! Two of my close mom friends came to see me from out of town this past weekend. We had amazing drinks & food at the Mall of America, delicious wine tasting at the Bella Vinez winery and enjoyed time around the campfire in my back yard. We had a great weekend laughing together and reminscing about old stories!

Playing// at Hyland Park in Bloomington, MN. I played at this park as a child with my cousins. We decided to stop at this park since we would be dropping off friends at the nearby airport on Sunday. The kids had a blast and can't wait to go back to this amazing rope park.  

Hiking// across the dam at the county park just up the road from our house. My good friend took this photo of me with my adorable kiddos. I love these moments! It was such a beautiful and warm Sunday morning.

Currently Choosing Happy {vol.13}

Starting// my weekend with gorgeous flowers from Trader Joe's. Every time I have a chance to shop at Trader Joe's, which is not very often, I always make sure to buy a bouquet of beautiful flowers. 

Cleaning// out dressers, closets and drawers! This past weekend I cleaned out both kids closets and dressers. I made them both try on piles of clothes.  It feels so good to know what they have, what they need and less mess!

Shopping// for a new car. Right now I have my eye on a Subaru Outback. I hoping we can purchase one soon... although first we need to decide if we are going to trade our vehicle in or sell it outright. 

Finishing// his big project for the school Expo on Monday evening. We unfortunately waited until the last minute to finish up this past weekend, but we did it! Mom is so glad that it is finished and delivered to the school! 

Being// who you are is the best person you can be! 

Enjoying// the beautiful day outside on Sunday. My son was excited to fly his new remote controlled plane. He ended up landing it on the roof of the shed, in the marsh and almost in the nearby stream. Let's just say it was an adventure!

Buying// my first coffee maker ever! Crazy right?  My husband & I are not coffee drinkers, never have been. For the last 8 years of birthday parties, baptisms and events we have never had coffee for our guests...well it's finally time. Two of my best girlfriends are coming this weekend from out of town and I wanted to have fresh coffee for them when they wake up.  I feel like such a grown up now! ha

April Monthly Goals

This year, I didn't set out any lofty goals for the year;  I decided to work on monthly goals. Last month was a crazy month with substitute teaching, going to Mexico with my husband and starting my new job. April is a new month!! This month I have decided to share my monthly goals in hopes that it pushes me a little harder to keep them & work a little harder. 

1. Take at least 10,000 steps a day. I am hoping my new Fitbit will help me get to my goal.  I have been having a hard time getting back into gear after vacation. I am really excited about my new Fitbit and the challenges each week to get my steps in. 

2. Clean out my scrapbook room/sewing room/exercise room. It's time to clean up the room that looks like a tornado went through. It's going to be a really big task, but it needs to be done!   I have been compiling "stuff" in my craft room for years. I haven't actually spent time working in the room for over a year, besides working out on my elliptical.  I am dreading the cleaning part, but I know that it will be so nice to have the space back. 

3. Prepare meals ahead of time. I would like to start making a few meals on the weekend to have during the week. I know it will make life a lot easier during the week.  I enjoy cooking, but during the week it is so hard to have healthy and filling meals after a busy day at work and before sports or meetings.

Walking// my way back to being fit with my new Fitbit. I am so ready to get back in gear. This new Fitbit was the extra boost I needed to get in my 10,000+ steps a day again.   

Laughing// at the silly April Fools joke at work. My co-worker sent a mass email that she brought donuts to work. When I opened the box to look at the donuts, the box was filled with veggies and dip! Everyone had a good laugh and enjoyed a healthy snack. 

Wondering// where spring went? Winter has came back to Wisconsin and I want to send it back. This is what we woke up to on Saturday morning at our girls scrapbook weekend. It has mostly melted, but we have more snow in the forecast for the next few weeks. 

Enjoying// time with dad! The kids had a great weekend hanging out with dad while I was away. My son shot pop cans with his BB gun and my daughter enjoyed playing basketball at Grandma and Grandpa's. 

Devouring// delicious appetizers & southern food at our girls weekend. We have a chef in our group and she spoils us every year with her delicious menu's!  This was one of my favorite's - homemade pimento cheese on bread. 

Stamping// birthday cards at our girls craft weekend! I had recently purchased new stamps, paper and accessories from Stampin Up to make birthday cards. I was able to make an adorable stack of cards to have on hand for upcoming birthdays. 

Choosing// to be happy!  I hope you do the same!
