Choosing Happiness Link Up Party - Day 2

Good Morning & Welcome to Choose Happy!

Today is the second day of my Choosing Happiness Link Up Party. This Link Up is intended to learn more about what makes everyone happy, what happiness is to different people & learn how we can share our happiness with those around us. I hope this post series inspires you to Choose Happiness & to help spread it those around you. This link up will take place every Thursday from October 2nd through November 6th.

Does your life purpose relate to Choosing Happiness?
My purpose in life is to make people smile, make someone’s day a little bit brighter, & make those close to me feel that they are loved. Hospitality was born in me. I learned a great deal from my grandmother & my mother. My grandmother & mother have always been the ones in the family to host events, birthdays,  & holidays in their homes. They have always done such a wonderful job accommodating everyone, feeding everyone, making sure everyone has beverages and just being a great hostess overall. They are also the women that take care of others when they are sick, bring food to those who need it, mend a dress for friend the night before a wedding, paint signs for a church festival, make pies for a ladies social, you name it...they do it. They are two  of the most AMAZING women I know.
I too have learned these traits over years of watching them and have recently been commended by my grandmother for these traits. One day at an event I hosted a few years ago, my grandma gave me one of the biggest compliments of all. She said, "Becky, you have become such an amazing woman. You are such a great mom & great hostess you have learned so much from your mother." I was almost in tears, for my grandma to say that to me meant so much and little did she realize, I learned so much from her.

Showing others kindness is such an important part of life. I truly believe that it will all come back full circle. I think that my life purpose of making people smile & making people's days a little brighter helps me feel happy. So yes, my life purpose does relate to Choosing Happiness!

What is your Happiness story for this week?
My happiness story for the week doesn't involve myself, but it does involve a friend of mine. This friend has been through many rocky relationships & a few rocky marriages. Her happiness has been up & down throughout the years and she has been through a lot. I have always wanted the best for her and have hated seeing her upset or in dark relationships.  Seeing her light up this past week after meeting a wonderful man that is kind, polite and not in a rush to move too fast,  has made me so very happy for her.  I just LOVE to see others around me happy & loving life. Seeing others happiness makes me light up and then in turn, I too feel happy about where I am at in my own life and makes me think a little bit about how much I have to be thankful for.

How do you teach or encourage your family members to Choose Happiness?
I encourage my children to be happy by being kind to others, enjoying our time together & reminding them how my Aunt Nan chose happiness every day of her life. Life is too short to be upset all the time. My Aunt Nan was such an inspiration in my life & I want to show my kids that same happiness. Live each day to the fullest & Choose Happy!

Remember that "Life is a gift. If you do not value your gift, nobody else will!"

  2. Such a wonderful link-up! I agree that a lot of what drives us to be day makers are those day makers that have gone before us. We're similar in that my mom and grandma were the ultimate hosts (and really continue to be), welcoming everyone with open arms and always keeping the door open. Such a wonderful story about your friend! Best of luck to her :)
